Understanding the challenge
Boots is available on Uber Eats for fast delivery, but this feature isn’t currently offered within the Boots app itself. The challenge is to bring that same level of convenience into the app, so users don’t have to switch between platforms. I also identified key pain points in the existing app that were affecting the overall user experience.
Designing a seamless experience
To improve this, I focused on integrating a fast delivery feature in a way that feels natural and easy to use. I redesigned parts of the app to remove friction and improve the overall flow. By simplifying the experience and addressing user pain points, the app becomes quicker, smoother, and more intuitive for users.
Ideation & Iteration
I began by analysing and highlighting the brief, summarising the key points to ensure a clear understanding of the task. I then generated ideas through a mind map, allowing me to explore a wide range of directions and possibilities. From this I come up with a plan and set a timeline, including steps of when I want to complete things for, this helps me keep track of deadlines.
For my primary research, I carried out user interviews to understand how people use the Boots app and what they expect from a fast delivery feature. This helped me see what users find frustrating and what really matters to them. For my secondary research, I created user personas so that I could reflect on who i'm designing for to keep me on track. I did a Heuristic review, so that I could look at pain points for users so that I was aware what needed changing. I looked at competitors, delivery services, and relevant statistics to see what’s already out there and what works well. Bringing this together gave me a clearer understanding and helped guide my design decisions.
I didn't sketch for this project as I wanted to move onto wire framing straight away as I already knew it would have Boots' layout, so I moved straight onto creating wireframes, to explore how the fast delivery feature could be integrated into the Boots app. This allowed me to focus on the layout, user flow, and functionality without getting distracted by visual details.

I then developed mid fidelity designs, adding detail and structure to the wireframes for the fast delivery feature. I also did user tests throughout and changed anything my users suggested, making sure I experimented with everything possible to give my users options. This stage helped me visualise the layout, user flow, and interactions more clearly while still keeping flexibility for changes.
The final result introduces a urgent 'within one hour' delivery feature within the app while improving the overall user flow. I ensured through testing that users were fully satisfied with the experience and that the design worked seamlessly in Figma. I met the goal of integrating the convenience of, Uber Eats Boots delivery, directly into the app, making it easy for users to get urgent items delivered quickly without leaving the platform. This solution not only raises awareness of the delivery option but also provides a smooth, trustworthy experience where users can still earn their Advantage Card points, making their lives simpler and more convenient.
